*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Phillips goes for a very unorthodox finish with this closing chapter. Waking up back in New York is a far cry from the battlefield of Sakaar. Events seem normal as she prepares for her duties as a lawyer. The writing gives the sense of things are too good to be true. There is a fun court case that is left hanging due to Juno’s arrival. Readers watch as the fight starts to break out in the courtroom. Unfortunately, there’s a major problem. Walters has no idea who and what is happening here.
It leads to a recap of previous events with some loop-holes featured. Juno’s quick past gets taken over by the magical deal involving Jack Of Hearts. While the writing ties in Jen’s emotions in her actions, it feels forced into the story instead of a gradual build. How its’ featured before the brief fallout of Korven’s last stand is also a mis-step. The battle itself is over very quickly with a hasty resolution. The chapter closes on a humorous but puzzling note. While enjoyable, it feels flat on the landing with a door open to walk further if desired.

The art team brings the hustle and bustle of New York City to life in the opening. Walter’s lead case get a full page reveal of her client. This moves quickly in Juno’s arrival on Earth. Readers get a quick skirmish before starting the long recap of events. Jen’s puzzlement matches many readers as she is processing this unknown past. Readers watch as a simple pizza experience unlocks many emotions inside both characters in this stage.
Sakaar’s recaps come fast as they have more gravity in the story. The use of the cartoonish versions of Juno and Walters is a nice touch to the moments. Juno’s fight against Korven’s forces add some excitement into the recaps. It offsets Walters’ turmoil in trying to save Jack. This leads into an excellent two-page splash of the battle of Sakaar. Korven’s fate is given a solid three panel explanation. This moves events into the more surprising finish. The final panels tease more coming and an uncertainty of how it will play out.
FINAL GRADE: 7.5
Jen Walters’ time on Sakaar comes to a perplexing finish in this series finale. Phillips takes a few risks in staging events with the writing. The art team give Sakaar a brief but solid send-off. Should the door re-open for this story, it will be very interesting to see where it leads from here.
