Hill shows Miles attemting to have a normal date night out but that doesn’t last too long. His new interest Valentina tries prying into his secrets. Their conversation is calm while hitting the awkward first date points. This gets quickly upended when Revenant makes his move. The writing spends time developing that backstory with much suspense behind it. Jeff Morales tries doing the right thing but no good deed goes unpunished.
Readers watch as the undercover mission leads into a tragic downfall for one character. This fast forwards to the present with grave intentions. The writing stages Miles on the defensive for the majority of the stand-off. It works to put over the new villain as an actual threat. tying in the backstory is a strong move and gives Miles a great new rogue. This wraps up with a solid cliffhanger moment to carry interest into the next round.

art and lettering:
Leon takes present day art while De Landro handles the flashback points. The full page opening with Revenant thrashing Miles via full page hits the mark. It pivots fast to the date night with Valentina. their expressions convey the nervousness of their meeting. This also gives a quick intro to the flashback points to begin. Jeff’s nervousness about the mission sways enough to accept it. Little does he realize what he’s just done.
A superb full page brings Miles into the fight against the latest rogue. Panels jump around to lock in on the action. It balances out the heavier flashback drama nicely. Neither feels they are overshadowing the other,. This allows a crazy sequence to unfold with Revenant gaining momentum. It spins Miles around forcing a drastic action to take place. Readers watch as the last page makes a bold statement as Petit’s lettering eludes to something far graver in the future to commence.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
Revenant stakes his claim as a force to be reckoned with as Miles attempts to start a new chapter. Hill drives the drama in both the past and present with excellent accuracy. The art crafts the deeper mystery lurking with each panel. The new stat quo of Miles Morales is one story not to miss!
