WRITING:
This book does an awesome job of delivering a positive message about overcoming shortcomings. Joey Esposito does a phenomenal job of driving this point home well still providing an entertaining story. The action in the book is good, but the real action is the mental struggle to defeat personal demons. Esposito really emphasizes the power of self-reflection and perseverance as a way to solve the problem. This is an awesome message to send to readers of all ages and really highlights a never give up attitude.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this book is really cool and captures the world of the Power Rangers perfectly. Gavin Smith does a fantastic job of bringing Angel Grove and the special locations to life. Each area has its own unique setting which plays right into the difficulties that the Rangers need to conquer. Smith also does an awesome job with the design of the Zords, the villains, and the Rangers themselves. Instantly recognizable, but with a familiar flare.
The color Pallet that Joshua Jensen uses matches the art and makes each panel leap off the page. The individual Ranger colors playing a part in each of their stories is a nice touch. The lettering shows the emotion and tone of the story and what’s going on. Ed Dukeshire does an impeccable job with the lettering and makes it easy for the reader to follow.
