*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

One thing is very certain with this series. Young definitely knows how to write Lobo. The early stages of his “TV” career have a load of fun moments as Lobo must adapt to the boundaries of his contract. Seeing him in a super hero costume is a wild visual. This leads to many problems, especially with a live mic. The writing shows how fast things go off the rails in front of a galactic audience. Events get more chaotic when he has to meet about the ratings with the executive board. Their solution to drive up ratings? Have him “hunt” Aquaman!

Readers watch as this “Main Man” squares off with the new Emperor with much hijinx involved. Aquaman’s reaction to Lobo’s outfit is priceless. This leads to a wild fight as to be expected. The dialogue hits on all fronts. Lobo’s reactions to how he’s supposed to handle this makes for things to become even more awkward. As their fight abruptly ends, this causes the finish to speed through. There’s only one way this could all end. The final page is pure Lobo as this job is forever closed.

READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!

Corona & Beaulieu nail the humorous points to Lobo’s new profession in dealing with his hair styles. It sets a strong pace which the rest of the issue follows. The near full page shot of him in costume is a comical piece. This aura carries through as Lobo goes to work. Panels capture the over-the-top escapades perfectly. There’s never a sense this is too serious. The audience reactions hit their marks as ell. Atrocious puking is a sight to be seen.

This leads into the real “Main Event”. Aquaman’s entrance gets a solid full page image. His joking demeaner helps to raise anger levels in the Main Man. The constant crying of laughter is a great addition for the pre-fight. Once the strikes start, the art unlocks the wildness of this brawl. King Shark and Mera’s half panel is a nice compliment to the action. Fighting ends rather suddenly to allow the closing act to start. Once here, the pages let Lobo truly loose. The head exec’s reaction to Lobo standing over him is a laugh out loud moment. This pushes events to a close and full frontal page that is 100% Mian Man indeed.

FINAL GRADE: 8.5

The Main Man takes on Reality TV to many absurd levels in another fun chapter. Young’s writing unleashes many sides of Lobo onto the readers. Corona & Beaulieu bring out all the stops fitting for the galaxy’s new “streaming star”. Loud Action, Huge crude humor, this is everything you could want from a Lobo series
