The Story
I have to admit, that before this series I was not the biggest fan of Knull. I thought he was a great character, and that when written well he could be in some interesting stories. But was he high on the list of must read material? No. However the work Al Ewing & Tom Waltz have done with this series has firmly moved him up that list for me and made anything Knull is the focus of a must read for me.
This is the final issue of the series, but the story isn’t done here. I’ll get to that in a little bit. However for this issue it sets up in the same way readers will be familiar with. On one side you’ve got Hela consolidating her power and building her empire. On the other side you’ve got Knull growing his power and confronting Thanos.
The confrontation is as good, if not better than their previous fight and it leads to another moment that is sure have fans gasping. It’s also not the last confrontation. As I said before, this story is not done. It’s going to lead to the series Queen In Black which is supposed to be arriving in July. That confrontation is going to be historic and it’s going to be destructive, and it’s going to be amazing to see!
The Artwork
Juanan Ramirez & Erick Arciniega stellar job with the series is at it’s absolute best in this issue. The use of color is incredible and the way the issue is drawn is simply out of this world. The action sequences are some of the best you’ll see this week. The last two pages have me excited more than I have been in a while for a follow up series.
FINAL POINT: Al Ewing & Tom Waltz are penning one of the best series going at Marvel right now. If you want a story that will leave you wanting more with each page this is the one for you! Together with artwork that will stun and amaze you, this is the can’t miss story of the year!
