Axelrod and Maines leave nothing to chance for the finale. The devilish delivery in the Key’s words sends chills in the air. Galaxy’s valiant efforts match line for line. Even when things look bleak, The writing showcases Galaxy’s never say die attitude. This comes to the forefront with her last ditch effort to save her friend. The following dialogue carries much weight and strength behind it.
Readers watch as the words become a catalyst to fight. The mood swings quickly into a back and forth contest. It provides a solid finish to the standing bout before switching gears to the epilogue closing. Once here, the writing opens up on the pair’s newfound status with the League. Batman’s apology is well presented and ushers in a new stat quo for one hero. The final pages wrap up events on a great note, allowing for a wide open future to take hold.

The art locks in on the Key’s mischievous attempts with the opening pages. A full shot shows him standing in his twisted glory while Galaxy attempts to fight. This leads into a haunting look at the Dreamscape’s current status. The creepy watching of Dreamer adds to the uncomfortable factors at hand. This allows Galaxy to have a breakthrough moment and not a second too soon!
The full page shot of her ‘waking” Dreamer up will get a good reaction out of readers. Their heartfelt talk captures the bond they have to fight through anything. It leads to a statement making half panel restarting the action. The fight hits its’ key points before concluding to calmer times. Galaxy’s talk with Batman jumps out form the pages. Getting the Dark Knight to admit wrong is a win in itself. This allows for a reflective finish with a universe now wide open for more. Solid work from the teams here.
Klaus Jansoncloses the show with a powerful autobiography. The writing shows the struggles to find acceptance in intolerable people. Readers also sees how one detour can change an entire life. The discovery of comics reset his course in a remarkable way. The art steers directly into the darker times but also exemplifies finding hope and love conquering all. Amazing work.
FINAL GRADE: 9
It’s Galaxy vs. The Key with Dreamer’s life in the balance in this excellent finale. Axelrod and Maines showcase the pair’s strong dynamic in the face of danger. The art weaves its’ magic as the showdown delivers much more than a win. Janson’s story is a emotional look at self discovery conquering hate and bigotry. A superb way to wrap up such an impactful series.
