Readers watch as tough times have moved her in the direction to take this risky operation. Her talk with her father is tense as ONIS as it doesn’t cement confidence to work with. It creates the grit needed for what lies ahead. Once the story jumps back to present, it is clear how the tenacity keeps her alive.
Readers watch as Boo’s madness takes hold. The confrontation with the group is fueled with anger over Jordan’s death. Etta takes hold of the situation but this is not a win. The mood shifts downward as all look for answers. This allows the audience to see how the group copes with the insanity of life underground. Guillory moves the key players into position to amplify the drama. Boo’s talk with Etta is tense and unapologetic. The fallout leads to a frantic close. There are many swerves thrown into play. None greater than Boo’s wild choice. It is a costly one as hope continues to slip through grasps. A steady read from start to finish.

It leaves the moment with a firm belief for something better. Once pages jump to present, the half panel shows the frustration of the group. Boo’s mannerisms are unhinged. They steer into a brutal confrontation with Etta. Her rage can’t be denied in handling the fight. It stages the next round with more uneasiness than anyone might expect.
Seeing the group process Boo’s actions makes some statements. They cover a wide range of reactions. None give any indication of improving heir situation. Etta’s encounter in the evening leads her to an unstable place. Panels showcase her grit facing Boo’s insanity. Readers see this chess match play out with great results. The crew must face off with one of their own as the truth of their mission comes to light. Guillory’s writing pushes the terror further with great success. Lotfi and Beaulieu construct a fleeting view of hope as the madness begins to enlarge. A thrilling look at the breaking point of survival.
