STORY OVERVIEW:

Zach & Rose finally find their way to the final stop on the subway line. Here they find a portal that has been calling them. The portal is beckoning them to decide, the decision is do they stay as Highborn’s and keep their powers, or do they go through the portal and become mortal. As they weigh out their options, Yogi is fighting off Beezle & Domino, which buys the kids some time. However, Yogi can’t hold them very long, and now they are making their way towards the kids. Will Zach & Rose make the decision before the decision is made for them?

WRITING:

This issue continues right where last issue left off. Peter J. Tomasi does a great job of building up the tension of the decision, well taking his time and letting the story breathe. Tomasi takes the readers through Zach & Rose’s thought process of what they ultimately decide, which shows huge growth in both characters. But with all this serious stuff don’ t worry as Tomasi puts in plenty of fun beats as well. The fight between Yogi and Beezle & Domino is a lot of fun. As well as the interactions between Pepper & Tucker at the pound. This book brings a lot of heart and a matching amount of fun and humor.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue stands out for its ability to perfectly match the tone of the story. Peter Snejbjerg’s art style evokes the charm and energy of Saturday morning cartoons but is skillfully adapted to the comic book format. This approach captures the whimsical nature of the narrative, enabling readers to experience the story’s emotions and themes from one panel to the next. The vibrant colors provided by John Kalisz enhance the artwork, impeccably reflecting the atmosphere and mood established by the visuals. Together, the art and colors demonstrate how a harmonious relationship between artwork and storytelling can fully immerse the reader in the world of the comic.
