*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Hampton swings for the fences in this arc finale. Having Guy Gardner ascend as a hero has been a major driver in this arc. It is no surprise that tapping into the emotional entities worked in his favor. Readers watch as he goes to work in handling the major threat. Even with his newfound status, the dialogue is still all Guy. This pushes the action forward without a thought of looking back.
Aya’s fight form possession proves to have the most drama involved in the issue. Her will to win is undeniable. It pushes a strong movement to fight against the odds. Her words echo loudly what fuels the Lanterns to fight on. Hampton also deserves plenty of credit for crafting the “Lantern Kaiju” as this was such a fun twist. The combat gets a huge assist from other Lanterns pushing evil back. Readers watch as the heroes have a triumphant surge to kick events up a few nothces. Once the smoke clears, the writing tackles a superb epilogue, ushering in the next phase of Lanterns hijinks.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
The art doesn’t miss it’s targets for this explosive chapter. Opening with a half panel of Guy starting to fight sets a high pace. It’s met with a superb full page image of him and some friends ready to take over. Action moves fast as panels try catching up to all moving points. Aya’s internal struggle gets a cool 3d-esque look as the Manhunters try holding on to control. It still doesn’t hold a candle to the major player in this brawl.
Readers witness the Lantern Kaiju” holding its’ own via half panel. The following panels spotlight the giant combat. It gets an assist form some other key members. Panels become bold as there’s no room for error with the combat. One Lantern gets a bonus gift in a corner panel. This results in a more dramatic finish to the space brawling. Seeing all plots come together for the closing round will draw some smiles on the audience’s faces. They reflect how epic the battle was in victory. The epilogue teases much as new directions are made. One bold full page will rock readers before the ending finishes its’ run. Steller art is fully on display here.
FINAL POINT: 9
