STORY OVERVIEW:

Ash, Loloi, and Toggle are pushing forward and have entered Bataar’s zone. Feeling the heat Bataar launches an all-out attack, sending all of his Makos and Shortfins. As our heroes are navigating the minefield they keep ahead and make ground but are getting overwhelmed. Just then the people of Prospektor show up and even the odds. This makes Bataar panic and he even snaps at Mingi, asking him if he could do better and giving him control of the army. Now Bataar and Mingi have to search within themselves and tap into something they’ve both wanted to forget just to survive.

WRITING:

This issue kept the high action quota of the last series and went beyond even that. Ludo Lullabi has brought the war to Bataar and is holding nothing back. The full throttle action scenes really drive this story and keep it very interesting. But the back stories and the mysterious forces that Mingi and Bataar are calling upon really drive the story from the readers’ perspective. Lullabi has crafted a world where anything can happen and just when you think you know the direction that can change in an instant. This fluidity of the story keeps it interesting and the reader stays hooked.

ARTWORK:

This issue's artwork perfectly expresses the story's excitement as it develops. Ludo Lullabi brings impressive creativity and detail to every page, drawing readers into a lively and believable world. The character designs highlight individual traits that match each personality and role. Wide, striking backgrounds contribute a grand sense of adventure, reinforcing the comic's epic atmosphere. On top of that, Adriano Lucas's use of color adds emotional depth to every scene, making the visuals even stronger. Working together, Lullabi and Lucas form an accomplished art team whose combined talents consistently produce memorable, high-quality illustrations that enhance the entire comic.

Final Thoughts:

Ghost Pepper #9 continues the full throttle approach to the inevitable showdown between Ash and Bataar. The excitement in this story is at a peak and keeps climbing somehow. With the showdown almost upon us the reader may think how much higher can it go? My answer is pretty damn high, as just when you think you’ve gotten to the Apex, there is more. This series has been awesome, and hopefully you have been a long for this ride.

FINAL GRADE: 9.2/10
