Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1 (GHOST MACHINE/IMAGE COMICS)

Readers can never ask for a better jump on point than a guide book.

Marvel has had them in the past with their “Official Handbook”. DC also gave fans a literal “Who’s Who” series. Both had the same goal in mind. If anyone want to know the facts on their favorite characters, these were your go-to’s

Now, an imprint known for making “Characters first” is throwing their hat into the ring with an official guidebook all their own.

Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1 by Geoff Johns, Bryan Hitch, Gary Frank, Andrew Currie, & Brad Anderson welcome readers into “The Unnamed Universe”

Let’s take a closer look at what is involved here.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

With these series, their main purpose is to be points of reference for all characters. Breaking down the Unnamed Universe for the first two issues is a no-brainer. This portion of Ghost Machine has been the longest running with Geiger leading the way since 2021. Johns and company give readers every possible detail they could fathom concerning these characters A-H. One key factor is the opening page. The brief timeline synopsis is a nice compliment to the more layered info to follow.

MORE GHOST MACHINE!

As for the art, Frank and Hitch deliver on the distinct looks of the worlds of Geiger and Redcoat. Even if in smaller panel sizes, they don’t lack in impressive impact. Readers also get some valued information on some upcoming releases. One of which is the C.S.A. and the long awaited “First Ghost” story. Even with the future teases, seeing the amount of detail brought to Geiger’s past and the Founding Fathers alone is worth the admiration alone.

FINAL GRADE: 9

For anyone claiming it is tough to jump int a new universe, Ghost Machine looks to ease those fears with their guidebooks. Each character featured is given ample amounts of page space to tell their story. The art is great in bringing a strong visual cue to readers. A must have for any present and future Ghost Machine fans.
