*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Pires and Jonas open with Aaron and Edgard having a casual conversation of the Fireborn legacy. Edgard’s words craft a magical landscape with deadly circumstances hovering in its’ skies. Aaron’s disbelief only adds to this portion. Readers get a well staged look at this lore without giving everything away. Their talk ends in a peculiar way. Edgard’s attempt in playing all sides leads to a desperate decision. It results in testing Aaron’s grit under fire.

The diner brawl spirals out of control in a hurry. Readers watch as Arron attempts to push past his limits. His inner dialogue shows the over-confidence as advice is discarded. There is a heavy onslaught of action which never lets up. Seeing Arron navigate this uncomfortable climate is standard growing pains. Even the brief run-in with the NYPD goes awry fast. This all leads into a steady final act. One vested party has been waiting for Aaron. It appears their wish has finally been granted.

Mulholland & Dale bring the action with Fireborn’s fight. Before that kicks in, The full shot of Aaron at the diner starts the dive into the Fireborn legacy. A pair of gorgeous two-page spreads unveils some of the mystery behind Aaron’s new identity. They are visually stunning as they hold nothing back with the brutality and wonder. As events come back to the present, Edgard’s shifty ways take over panels. His lack of emotion cements his next move, causing more problems.

Readers watch as his opposition gets a grand debut. Their silhouette panel hides the true terror in waiting. This moves events to a brutal killing at the diner. The dueling half panels kickstarts the fighting and never looks back. Pacing is exploding as the battle rages onward. One match-up in particular leads to a superb display via two-page spread. This moves events into another great full shot of Fireborn standing his ground. The art hits another gear to bring events to a pause. Fireborn’s escape lands into more trouble via the closing panel. The full shot shows how Aaron will be tested like never before. Action fans will love the art in this chapter.

Timmy Heague & Luca Casalanguidacontinue their Edge story with another great chapter. The writing shows how malicious Edge is in his quest. This comes to light with the fight with the Rock Protector of Mons Infernus. A wild full page shows Edge’s brutality on full display. The art pops in this quick sequence. This mood carries into the trek inside the Cave of Abraxus. Readers watch as the defiant antagonist shows no worry as the Cave’s opposition greets him. Dialogue is tough but shows no give in delivery. This leads into a wild scenario heading to its’ finish. The last panel dialogue cements this story is far from over (which is a major win for readers).

FINAL GRADE: 8.8

From the dragon’s den into the fire, Aaron’s life keeps getting problematic in another strong chapter. Pires and Jonas flesh out some of the mystical past before igniting the action . Mulholland & Dale construct a beautifully chaotic throwdown with incredible art. This series proves its’ hype and buzz every issue out!
