*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Pires and Jonas open with a mysterious player entering the game. The writing shows his breakdown of his latest prisoner. There is no forgiveness in his voice. The dialogue is cold upon delivery. Even as Edgard attempts to fight back, the struggle seems to all be in vain. This provides a solid pivoting point to Aaron’s latest confrontation.

His exchange with his mother is a case of smoke and mirrors. The writing nails his discomfort as Aaron starts spinning his lies. Events spiral more out of control when he’s picked up by the Police. Readers watch as the officer breaks down his sorted background. Aaron’s defiance swings through to cancel the inquiry. It doesn’t take long before more vested parties arrive. Action picks up as Aaron tries taking on insurmountable odds. This results in an unlikely assist which only further complicates events. A solid parting image leaves many theories in the air after another impressive showing.

Mulholland & Dale open with a seedy shot of nefarious work being conducted. Edgard’s captors make a full page entrance. This spills into some fast action before business begins. Panels lock in on the intensity of the matter. It comes to an abrupt end before moving into Aaron’s time. His conversation with his mother runs an emotional gambit. The aftermath leads to more uncomfortable talk.

A near full page image shows Aaron reliving his transformation. This spins into a fantastic rooftop shot overlooking the city. Once the action takes hold, pages are bursting with electricity as the fighting takes place. This builds to an explosive finish. A wild full page shot concludes this portion. It leads readers into a more stable finish to soak in what has just transpired. The art really stands out for this series.

Timmy Heague & Luca Casalanguidashowcase the Knights Of Edge. The opening sequence provides a calm before an emerging storm. Once the Knights get their orders, scenes turn problematic. Their opposition provides little resistance in getting what they want. A half page image spiotlights the carnage of their work. It leads into a futile resistance. Edge’s diabolical words send shivers through the audience as he presses for information. The result leads into a startling realization. It’s a great tease for where his story is moving in the “Fantasy Universe.”

FINAL GRADE: 8.8

Allen Hillburg feels the heat as the pressure of his new role starts breaking him down. Pires and Jonas’ writing unveil the emotional wear Allen senses. Mulholland & Dale deliver in spades on the action. Your new favorite superhero saga has arrived!
