*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Dr. Doom is hanging out in Latveria & hears about a convention being headlined by Reed Richards. Hijinks ensue as he definitely thinks not only should he be the guest of honor, but he can certainly do what Reed is trying to do much better than him and that involves time traveling and changing the past.
What did we think?
What a fun setup for a book. It's not the, well, obviously Dr. Doom going back and changing Changing time is going to have wide-ranging ramifications for the whole world, but it doesn't feel like the whole world is at danger right off the bat. It's really just mostly about Dr. Doom's hubris and what a fantastic, exciting book this is. I really enjoyed reading it and the story is just so well told by Ryan North as it unfolds. As it unfolds, you're seeing Dr. Doom himself just being like he just can't get over himself. Doom can't get over his hatred for Reed Richards and that just sets the whole ball rolling.
MORE FROM THE FANTASTIC FOUR!
The art is absolutely fantastic in this. We get some cool action sequences as the Doom bots attack the Avengers in Fantastic Four who are trying to prevent Dr. Doom from time traveling and it just sets up some really cool potential storylines coming up in this series, which is a limited series. Hopefully, we'll continue to get some cool twists and turns on it.. I really like where it could potentially go.
FINAL GRADE: 9
Great art, cool story, great concept. Marvel is winning this week with this debut. Get to the comic shops and pick it up! This is everything you want from a DOOM story!
