*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Fleecs spins the human’s “success” into a panicked frenzy for the cats right in the opening pages. Their mad dash to escape leads into a cold reality for Chloe and Elsie. The worry of what might happen tries overtaking their plan. It leads towards more chaos as they come into contact with Leland and the infected cats. Readers watch as the moment continues to spiral out of control.
This leads into the conclusion fans have been waiting to see. Once Moosh appears on the page, it becomes clear where things lead from this point. The back-up story amps up the paranoia as the Dogs have their own issues of survival. Fighting back the murderous scientist leads to more instability as they try dodging capture. Readers watch as some fall in the journey to run. The dialogue nails the frustration of events to a tee. It helps bring that final moment to a new height for the anniversary chapter.

Forstner and the team present the Cats and Dogs’ plans to run with much excitement. The opening pages don’t wait too long before kicking into gear. Chloe and Elsie’s dread starts sinking into panels. It makes a dent into the story before being overtaken. Readers watch as their path comes into a nightmarish scenario. The rabid look on Leland’s face expresses the terror coming to present. This mirrors what the Stray Dogs are going through on their end.
The incinerator beginning makes a statement early. Panels are overcome with the distraction to leave via the lettering. It catches enough of readers’ attention to set up their stand against the murderer. The art composes their survival tactics with much energy behind them. Watching the dogs’ eyes reach their breaking point with what’s unveiled strengthens the horror feel involved. This provides the boost for an epic two page spread that will energize fans heading into the next round. There’s no way to leave without some anxiousness after that image.
FINAL GRADE: 8.6
The troubles at the CDC hit new levels as all roads come together in a solid set-up chapter. Fleecs orchestrates events with a heavy sense of fear involved. Forstner and the team show the wide range of reactions as hope slips away. Expect nothing but fireworks coming out of the meetings of Cats and Dogs!
