STORY OVERVIEW:
The Groundskeeper and the Gamesmaster are admiring their handiwork with this year’s game. As the fires make the playing field smaller, it also makes the escape for the Townspeople more improbable. Audrey has been caught in Recluse’s web of barbwire and just when it looks like she will meet her end, Fox Mask Killer shows up and a fight breaks out. At the same time Laura made her way to the Groundskeeper and confronts him about what’s going on. Since he’s been compromised, he makes the call to have his life snuffed out. Meanwhile, Rascal Randy has Xavi and Jason cornered at the local convenient store. Well, all of this is going on, the Carolina sisters are trying to figure out who to align with and who they can partner with.
WRITING:
This issue brings some surprises, well also fills in some of the blanks and questions that the readers have had for this series. Jordie Bellaire shows the human side of the Fox Mask Killer, well at the same time showing the brutality of Rascal Randy. Bellaire’s ability to portray the killers in a completely separate and individual manner is really cool. At the same time endearing the Townspeople to the reader, which brings the heart to the story. The scenes with Laura and the Groundskeeper are both informative and cool standoff between “normal” people. But the biggest piece of suspense is what’s going on with the Carolina sisters and their possible alliance with a couple of the families. As we get closer to the end of this season, the suspense is at a fever pitch.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue is truly outstanding, upholding the high-quality fans expect from the series. Mariana Ignazzi brings the story’s atmosphere to life with stylish visuals that fully immerse readers in each scene. Jordie Bellaire once again excels with her distinctive coloring, which deepens the mood and highlights the series’ unique look. Additionally, Becca Carey provides flawless lettering, allowing the narrative to flow seamlessly and making the story easy for readers to follow.
