WOLVERINE: WEAPONS OF ARMAGEDDON #1 (MARVEL COMICS)
It’s time to get ready for Armageddon but should you get ready to head down to the comic shop and check it out?

Wolverine has ghost of his past come back to haunt him. Machinations are ensuing to help set up the next big crossover that “will change the Marvel Universe forever”.
Sorry, I’ve just heard that so many times in life that it’s hard not to laugh. Things are getting pulled in from the Ultimate Universe that is wrapping up. Hijinx are ensuing.
What did I think?
As set-up for a giant crossover, you can’t get much better than this. It’s a really cool story that is as self contained as you’re going to get. You need to know who Wolverine is (obviously) and a slight knowledge of what happened in the Ultimate Universe would help. It’s not super important but useful.
Otherwise, it has a cool set-up and great art. The only downside I have as you see the cover is “wow, look at this awesome battle between Nuke and Wolvie.” Sadly, they don’t. They get “Surf Dracula” done. The pair doesn’t even meet in the first issue. We’ll see where that ends up.
FINAL GRADE: 7/10
For the most part, there was a lot of really cool set-up. It had some decent action as well. It just set the stage & getting all the players in place. A good beginning for what this is all about. It looks like it’s going to have something to do with the boxes that The Maker had. They have one in the 616 universe so we’ll see where that goes. Someone’s trying to engineer it to make super soldier armies.
Overall, WOLVERINE’s event lead-in has an interesting start, cool set-up & great art. We’ll see where we go from here. Keep reading and hopefully we don’t get swept up in the changes of ARMAGEDDON too soon.
