STORY OVERVIEW:

After seemingly killing the crew of the Event Horizon, Paimon turns his wrath to Captain John Kilpack. As Paimon makes John see memories of his past he would like to forget, he also shows him the horrors he can create, as he brings the crew back to life. As each crew member approaches the captain, they rip their heads open in disturbing fashion. The whole time he is reminded that he cannot protect anyone, again. The madness is enough to make the captain not want to see anymore. But can he make one last brave move before his demise?

WRITING:

The narrative in this issue is both disturbing and, at moments, intensely sadistic. Christian Ward skillfully sets the stage for the infamous Blood Orgy scene, immersing the reader in the unnerving atmosphere that defines this segment of the story. Ward’s writing highlights that the emotional horror experienced by the characters far surpasses even the most grotesque and brutal deaths imaginable. The depravity with which Paimon torments Captain Kilpack is crafted with such precision that it evokes the deepest fears and anxieties, bringing to life the kind of nightmares that linger long after the final page is turned. While the psychological torment is central, the traumatic events depicted are equally impactful, reinforcing the relentless horror that permeates the entire issue.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue is disturbing in the most beautiful sense of the term. Tristan Jones excels at translating pure nightmare fuel onto the page, rendering scenes that are brutal, unsettling, and drenched in gore with such skill that readers are likely to feel genuine discomfort. Every panel is infused with unrelenting horror, intensifying the unsettling atmosphere of the story. The coloring by Pip Martin perfectly complements the tone, with dark hues capturing the overwhelming despair and striking reds accentuating the graphic gore throughout the art. Together, their work ensures that the horror is not just told, but vividly and viscerally experienced by the audience.
