STORY OVERVIEW:
Mei has been recaptured by Pierce, and this has let the other captives down. They are faced with the fact that there may not be anyone coming to save them. Little do they know Cyclops is on the warpath to find his way to them. He has Tearjerker as his prisoner and is forcing all the information he can get out of him. He also uses him as bait to draw out the other Reavers to wipe them off the board. Now as the captive mutants plan another coup, they don’t realize a huge help is on the way in the form of Cyclops. Now the final showdown is set, and which side will come out on top?
WRITING:
This issue keeps the action ramped up and right in your face. Alex Paknadel brings a lot of action and excitement to this penultimate issue. The badass version of Cyclops really makes this story exciting and brings a grittiness to the series. Paknadel takes some big swings with the character and they all pay off. The march to get to Pierce and the lengths Cyclops is willing to get his hands on him shows the darker side of the character. At the same time Paknadel is telling a dramatic story about Mei and the other captured mutants. Their situation and hope for a savior bring an uplifting feeling to this story and series.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue by Rogê Antônio effectively illustrates the complexities and challenges present within the narrative. Antônio's renderings of action and combat scenes are executed with precision, offering readers a detailed perspective on the events. The artist's proficiency is most evident in the dramatic sequences, which serve to convey character depth and emotional nuance. Additionally, the carefully selected color palette by Fer Sifuentes-Sujo further enhances the visual impact, resulting in exceptional artistic quality.
