WRITING:
Grønbekk puts Kyle in a very different place for the outbreak event. Have her kept indoors with the likes of Carmine Falcone makes for trying times. Their dialogue is very business as they watch the events unfold. Even as a side plot begins, readers keep locked in on Kyle’s yearning to get outside. Once she begins her assignment, the reaction to what Isley has done is unavoidable. Her tone is vastly different than most. Being one who walks both sides of the law, there’s a certain perspective most wouldn’t have concerning the act.
Readers geta quick detour to stop in on Holly Robinson. The conversation is welcomed as the crisis now comes to Kyle’s front door. It is a personal one that shows another side of the famed anti-hero. Once back on track, the story speeds quickly into the main destination. The infiltration of Icon Towers shows Kyle’s determination to help while helping herself. This allows a solid distraction to get to her intended target. Grønbekk ushers in a strong final act with Kyle’s monologue distracting from the unexpected twist ending. It shakes events up enough to keep things interesting as the attack progresses.

ART AND LETTERING:
The art opens with a look over the city between Falcone and Kyle. Their stone expressions never let on their true feelings. It keeps an “honor amongst thieves” as they make their plans. Once ready to go to work, a striking half page panel shows Kyle in full costume awaiting plans. The mood is very focused while a wild card element is added. There’s quick one-liners which Wands nails with the lettering. This progresses to a bold full page of Selina seeing Isley’s attack first hand.
Panels lock in on the unstable environment as looting and chaos take hold. It’s broken up by the stop to check on Robinson. Panels show the caring aspect of Kyle as she finds Holly with a situation on her hands. It offsets the dire mood overwhelming the city. Selina’s mission gets re-routed to Icon Towers with more horror sinking in. The set-up for the doorman offers a way in. Once in the final stages, the art tackles a lop-sided confrontation with some notable panels. It locks in the twist ending which is going to be very intriguing to see play out.
FINAL GRADE: 8.4
A simple break-up is anything but for Selina Kyle in her ”Bad Seeds” tie-in. Grønbekk presents a steady trip into the madness of Gotham with more mystery looming. The art locks in on the tense moves to survive not only the assignment, but Gotham itself. Where this one goes from here is anyone’s guess.
