STORY OVERVIEW:

We follow the highest rated hero in all of Capes Inc., Bolt. We catch up with him as he is taking a villain known as Rampage. During the process of the fight Bolt knocks a building that is being constructed on top of Rampage to win the fight. Come to find out that building was being built into an orphanage, and this irritates the mayor. This irritation leads to the director Commander Capitalism punishing Bolt by putting him on night shift. Bolt is unhappy with this move but after a pep talk from his wife, he accepts it. However, nothing can prepare him for the night shift and the politics that are weaved into the fabric of it.

WRITING:

This issue takes a step back and highlights one of the most popular members of the team. Benito Cereno kicks off his writing of this title with a bang. Showing the reader what makes Bolt tick, well displaying his strengths and weaknesses. These moments bring the reader closer to Bolt, well also giving us a further look into how Capes is run. Cereno nails the human element of the story and gets you emotionally invested in what’s going on with Bolt throughout this issue. The crazy cliffhanger this issue ends with is sure to lock readers in for what is planned for the next issue and beyond.

The short introduction to Ella Mental that appears in the epilogue gives readers their first look at this new character. Robert Kirkman gives us her backstory well keeping the character shrouded in mystery. This builds more intrigue into the character and her place in the Invincible Universe.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue is highly polished, blending dynamic superhero action with quieter moments that reveal Bolt’s personal side. Mark Englert brings a distinct style to the character designs, giving each figure a strong heroic identity while preserving their individuality. The character interactions feel especially genuine and emotionally grounded, adding realism and heart to the story. That emotional richness helps the series stand out in today’s comic market.
