STORY OVERVIEW:
Chronodile is destroying the city and all challengers as the Capes team is kind of psyched out by this mega sized foe. Just when Chronodile thinks that he will walk through the city without a real challenge, he gets ambushed by the entire roster. At first our Heroes get the upper hand, but soon they find out the true might of this massive enemy. As it looks like all hope is lost, Marshall the last of the Meteor Twins throws down his challenge to Chronodile. The giant croc laughs this off, until Marshall reveals a secret no one is ready for.
WRITING:
This issue brings a lot of action and unsurmountable odds to our Heroes. Robert Kirkman shows the peril the heroes find themselves in, while making the threat of Chronodile as massive as possible. With the odds stacked against them, the Capes team must find a way to overcome and come out on top. Kirkman really brings the suspense and makes the reader believe that all hope is lost. The surprise transformation of Marshall comes at the perfect time, and not only resolves this issue, but also sets up an exciting avenue that we will be exploring in future issues as well.
ARTWORK:
The art featured in this issue is impressive, skillfully blending dynamic superhero scenes with intimate glimpses into the characters' lives. Mark Englert excels at crafting distinctive character designs, ensuring that each individual feels both heroic and significant. His depiction of Chronodile gives the villain a formidable presence, posing a serious challenge for the team. What truly stands out, however, are the emotionally charged interactions among the characters; Englert succeeds in making them appear genuine and relatable. This emotional depth is, in my view, the core of the story and distinguishes the series from others available today.

Final Thoughts:
Capes #5 brings the action and never takes its foot off the gas. With action from front to back the reader has no chance to become bored. My only issue with this action-packed issue is that the funny and humorful scenes that we’ve become accustomed to in this series take a back seat this issue. However, the issue still fires on all cylinders and is definitely worthy of you grabbing a copy at the LCS this week.
FINAL GRADE: 9/10
