STORY OVERVIEW:

The battle wages on! Conquest and Battle Beast’s fight has now started to affect the citizens of Fantania. As buildings and houses get destroyed by the fight King Salaka must spring into action to help save his planet. Salaka and the witch work together to save as many citizens as they can from the destruction being caused by the fight. Meanwhile, the fight escalates yet again, going to the sky and even the countryside. Just when it looks like one of them will come out on top, the tables are turned once again. However, the planet’s natural inhabitants are tired of the two combatants and bring a whole new threat to Conquest & Battle Beast.

WRITING:

The action continues and ramps up even further from where the previous issue left off. Robert Kirkman is delivering unfiltered, hard-hitting violence, and for a story built around two unstoppable warriors pushing each other past every limit, that approach absolutely works. The extended battle between Conquest and Battle Beast has now taken up nearly two full issues, giving the conflict the massive, mythic feel it deserves. Every exchange feels more brutal than the last, with the violence, gore, and sheer physical punishment turned up to eleven and showing no signs of slowing down. It is the kind of relentless action that keeps the reader’s blood pumping and makes each page turn feel urgent.

What makes the issue stronger is that Kirkman does not allow the spectacle to exist in a vacuum. While the fight itself is the main attraction, the destruction left behind gives the issue a needed sense of consequence. Fantania is not just a backdrop for Conquest and Battle Beast to tear through; it becomes a place filled with people who are being directly affected by their war. Seeing King Salaka forced to take action to protect his citizens adds an unexpected layer of drama to the issue. Salaka has often been presented through a more cowardly or self-serving lens, but here Kirkman gives him a chance to show responsibility when his kingdom is collapsing around him.

That balance between explosive action and grounded fallout is what helps move the story forward. Big superhero and sci-fi battles can sometimes focus only on the combatants, but this issue makes sure the reader sees the cost of a fight on this scale. The result is an issue that delivers the brutal entertainment expected from Conquest and Battle Beast while also giving the destruction emotional weight. Kirkman manages to provide the best of both worlds: a savage, page-turning fight and a broader sense that this battle is changing the world around it.

ARTWORK:

The visuals carry a strong sense of energy from start to finish. Ryan Ottley brings the issue to life with bold character work, expressive layouts, and detailed environments that make each scene feel larger than life. Because so much of the issue is built around Conquest and Battle Beast tearing through everything in their path, the artwork has to sell both the speed of the fight and the weight behind every hit. Ottley does exactly that. Every punch, crash, and impact feels heavy, and the exaggerated damage done to the characters’ bodies makes the battle feel as vicious as the script intends. The violence is savage and unrestrained, but it never becomes confusing. The panel-to-panel flow keeps the action easy to follow, even when the fight moves from the city to the sky and out into the countryside.

What also stands out is how Ottley handles the destruction of Fantania. The crumbling buildings, ruined homes, and wide shots of devastation make the planet feel like more than just a battlefield. They help show how far the fight has spread and why King Salaka is forced to respond. The quieter moments of citizens being rescued give the issue some visual variety, creating a contrast between the massive brutality of the main fight and the desperation of the people caught in the middle. That contrast makes the destruction feel more meaningful because the reader can see the direct impact of Conquest and Battle Beast’s war on the world around them.

Annalisa Leoni’s colors sharpen that impact by giving each setting its own atmosphere while keeping the overall intensity high. The bright bursts of violence, the dirt and debris of the ruined environments, and the shifting tones between the city, sky, and countryside all help the issue maintain visual momentum. The colors give the pages extra vibrancy without overwhelming Ottley’s line work. Together, the art and colors make this issue feel huge, brutal, and cinematic, turning an already wild fight into something that feels even more chaotic and memorable.
