STORY OVERVIEW:

Conquest and Battle Beast have a bit of a stare down, which gets broken up by King Salaka who wants to have a feast. Salaka is pitching for Conquest to enter an alliance with him and Fantania. However, Conquest is in Fantania to do exactly what his name says. As he throws barbs and shots at Battle Beast, Beast is not impressed at all. Finally, Conquest lays down the challenge and Battle Beast gleefully accepts. Will Conquest be the first to hand a definitive loss to Battle Beast.

WRITING:

This issue builds up throughout its run time, until we get a climax of violence. Robert Kirkman takes his time building up the tensions between Conquest and Battle Beast. As the verbal sparing picks up, the anticipation for the showdown builds. Kirkman holds off until tensions are at their height and then he gets right into the fighting. The fight plays out how most Battle Beast fights play out; however, it ends with a bit of cliffhanger. The King Salaka scenes break up the testosterone driven build up to and fighting. Salaka’s inability to understand what’s actually going on leads to some funny and awkward moments. The way it all comes together is a classic Kirkman move and makes the story hit on all levels.

ARTWORK:

The visuals carry a strong sense of energy from start to finish. Ryan Ottley brings the issue to life with bold character work, expressive layouts, and detailed environments that make each scene feel larger than life. The action is savage and unrestrained, leaning into the bloodshed without losing momentum. Annalisa Leoni’s colors sharpen that impact, adding atmosphere and vibrancy that make the pages feel even more intense.

Final Thoughts:

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #10 builds up the tension until it’s at a fever pitch and then releases the violence. The fight scene is good and violent, but it’s the anticipation and build up that makes this issue good. Add some comic relief and some awesome artwork and you have a fun and action-packed issue to enjoy. If this series isn’t on your Pull List, you should really reconsider and give this issue a shot before adding it.

FINAL GRADE: 8.8/10
