Moreci kicks events off in a very familiar fashion. The recap of the Black Knight showcases his brutality before events snap back to main timeline. Doxon’s dialogue lays out her haunting threats. Readers know exactly how Owen is going to handle that. Their banter perfectly stages the fight forthcoming. Even with a humorous break involving Toro, the tension runs thick. This is especially true with Soren’s latest discoveries. Some secrets should have never been discovered.
Her internal investigation unlocks more than bargained for. Readers get a welcomed surprise to the mythos of this series. It does throw a few events off center as events progress. One thing it doesn’t steer clear of is the action. There’s plenty of melees to go around. Once events come back to Soren, the fighting takes an emotional turn. Readers watch as the rally of hope starts flickering out for one character. This leads to the strongest point of the issue. Its’ aftermath steers events into a steady but impactful finish. With all that is revealed, it is impossible to hide the scars away. How this plays out next round shall be one to watch.

Gooden and Marques gives the Black Knight a devastating introduction. The panels are filled with blood soaked combat. Once things come back to present, Doxon’s speech starts stirring up her opposition. Owen’s angry expression are quickly doused by Doxon’s evil smirks. The only element that upsets this point in the story is a dark humor moment with Toro. It serves as a solid pivoting point before Soren’s portion of the book levels up.
Panels show the dark secrets she has unlocked. It is a great visual statement to convey the heavy load. Fans won’t have to wait much longer for the action to return. The art team constructs the frantic frenzy to much delight. A full page image unveils one of the series most darkest secrets. With this knowledge, one character’s reactions tell a whole new story. Pages steer back into the loud combat before the final act slams the door shut on this chapter. A full page image debuts the latest threat. They are complimented by a superb two page spread of violence. Its’ fallout stages a fallen character’s ultimate demise. This assists in drawing out the buried feelings of a major player before bowing out on this latest escapade. Another fun visual experience to tag along with.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
Secrets revealed and violence abounds in this final chapter of Owen’s latest escapades. Moreci injects deeper reactions to the constant fighting via the writing . Gooden and the art team spare no expense on crafting the conflict. Another display of excellent storytelling surrounding a most likely hero and his curse.
