Avengers: Armageddon #2 (Marvel Comics)
Red Hulk has claimed Latveria as “New America” & doesn’t plan on stopping there.
This is causing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to become involved. That aspect isn’t sitting too well with the government.
They want the heroes to stay out of this. Tony Stark is never one to listen to authority. He’s leading the charge into the heart of the matter with a secret weapon in toe.
AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #2 by Chip Zdarsky, Delio Diaz, Frank Alpizar, Sonia Oback & Cory Petit looks to bring the fight to General Ross!
Let’s take a closer look at how this all goes down!

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
What a tangled web we have here. Ross’s invasion of Symkaria leads to nothing but anarchy. The writing shows his blind rage as his forces start tearing into the country. Once Stark’s forces arrive, events escalate quickly. This allows Stark’s secret weapon to take over events. David Colton is a wild card. The writing shows him playing by his own rules. Even facing Ross, his actions never mesh with the other heroes. With a power level he possesses, this doesn’t end well for anyone.
Readers watch as Colton takes matters to the extreme. This forces a conflict with Tony Stark. The clashes of ethics shine as Colton is used to fighting in wars while Stark knows only the heroic playbook. This interaction leaves Tony at a loss for words. The writing shows how the aftermath becomes way more complex to handle. Zdarsky throws in a few twists in the closing moments but none larger then the final panels. If there was ever a time to panic, now might be the time.

The art doesn’t back down form the fight either. Ross’s opening salvo comes with heavy force behind it. A full page shot of the heroes responding adds more tension in the air. A two page spread locks in the huge combat to fans’ delight. This gives Colton’s appearance more flare as he flies in via half panel. This spins out of control as causalities begin to mount. It does little to slow Colton’s aggressive nature down.
The coldness of his stare as he inflicts punishment comes off terrifying. Seeing his victim lifeless for a final blow spares no expense in shock. Iron man’s intervention leads to a more heated response. Both characters never flinch form their facial stances. It spins events towards a remorseful finish. The pain inflicted on innocents comes crashing down on Stark. His responses are flooded with sadness. This moves events to the shocking final page. Seeing what is on those closing panels spells nothing good for a situation already out of control.
Overall Grade: 9
Red Hulk’s latest invasion is met with hostile pushback as Tony Stark’s future becomes grave. Zdarsky nails the burden and scars of this immense conflict. Diaz ad the art team flourish through the havoc with incredible art. This is no ordinary event. This is catastrophic repercussions on every level possible.
