The Amazing Spider-Man #22 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 21st issue of The Amazing Spider-Man from Marvel Comics!
Peter Parker is finally back on Earth! After getting sent into the depths of space after his battle with Hellgate, Peter has made the long trek back home with some help. So just how much has changed since he left? Let’s jump into it!
Credit: Marvel Comics // The Amazing Spider-Man #22 by Joe Kelly (Writer), Nick Bradshaw/Todd Nuack & Nathan Stockman (Artists), Scott Hanna (Ink Assist), Marte Garcia & Rachelle Rosenberg (Color Artists), VC’s Joe Caramanga (Letterer), Mark Bagley & Marte Garcia (Cover Artist) is a great end to the current storyline.

The Story
This issue really works well ending the current storyline that’s been going on since July 2025. It wraps things up very nicely before things inevitably ramp up when the next storyline starts VERY soon!
The story excels with ending the story very effectively, it isn’t a huge celebration or climactic event but honestly rather quiet. There isn’t a parade or a welcome home party waiting for him, and honestly it really works. There is an interesting bit involving Peter’s boss at Rand Enterprises. It seems like a throw away moment in the issue, but I’m not so sure. I get the feeling she’s up to something and I can’t figure out just what it is yet.
The issue does serve two parts and obviously the one is wrapping up the previous story like I’ve said, but the other part is setting up the next story. That story starts next week in fact, and it’s going to start in Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral #1. Which is sure to be an insane story to read because we’re going to see Spider-Man, Venom AND Carnage have to come together, which is something I’m not sure we’ve ever seen before! So you’re not going to want to miss that.
The Artwork
The incredible folks who worked on the artwork for this issue really impressed me with said artwork. There was a familiar feeling to the way the panels were drawn and even the color was used. It’s the most “home” I’ve ever felt reading an issue of Amazing Spider-Man, if that makes sense.
FINAL POINT: Joe Kelly wraps up the storyline very neatly and sets things in motion for the Death Spiral event. Together with artwork that is spectacular, this is a great issue to read you won’t want to miss.
Overall Grade: 7/10
