“SUPERGIRL” (2026) FINAL THOUGHTS: FLZ EDITORIAL

Kara Zor-El aka SUPERGIRL has been the talk at the box office with many “critics” weighing in on the film.

The film starring Milly Alcock in the title role scored $37 million in ticket sales in the US. Even with THE star power of Jason Momoa as LOBO, the film has been a very polarizing topic amongst fans.

The team here at Fanlight Zone are giving their overall thoughts on the DC Studios film before the second weekend starts. Let’s see what they had to say about it:

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

JOEY:

“Even fully powered by a yellow sun, Supergirl can’t overcome a terrible script, whiplash tonal shifts and embarrassingly bad needle drops in a mid beyond belief movie. Milly Alcock as Kara deserved a much better movie.”

As for the grade, make sure to sub up to the So Wizard Podcast and hear the full breakdown this week!

SAMI:

Supergirl is anchored by a compelling lead performance, but it’s held back by a weak story, uneven writing, and a forgettable villain. As the next chapter in DC’s new universe, it isn’t a step forward or a step backward—it just exists, leaving little impact once the credits roll.

PAD:

“As a film, it’s fine. As a comic book movie, it’s okay. Is it the best comic book movie ever? No, but it’s also not the worst one either. When it hits the mark it’s great and when it misses, it misses badly. Is it the must see film of the year? No. Overall, an okay film (7.5)”

RICH:

“Alcock has a great performance as Supergirl in spite of some questionable screenwriting. Momoa comes off as comic accurate version of Lobo but very cheesy (which was very entertaining). The story is lacking of substance and the main villain is lackluster at best.
