STORY OVERVIEW:
After some convincing Sterling gets Digger to agree to rob Fightsgiving so they both can get revenge and punish Buddy Hansen. As Sterling tells Digger about his initial plan, Digger corrects Sterling on where Buddy keeps his money. This throws a wrinkle into the plan but forces the two to go and scope out the target. While scoping out the venue, the two get confronted by Buddy and his bodyguard. Buddy threatens the two and lets them know that if they mess with him that will be the last thing they’ll do. The good news is that they did come up with the new plan and are now on their way to Mexico to get the help of a Lucha legend Ocho Bola. Unfortunately, Ocho is injured, but he has a son who can help them out, but that comes with an entire new set of problems.
WRITING:
This issue really doubles down on the fun and entertaining nature of this world. Kyle Starks really shows the zany side of the world of Pro Wrestling, well at the same time putting together a really fun heist story. The over-the-top characters are perfect avatars for professional wrestlers and are definitely inspired by real wrestlers. The exaggerated personalities of the characters would be outlandish in any other world except for Pro Wrestling.
Besides the really fun characters and the outlandish situation, Starks makes you fall in love with our main characters. The bond that is being built with the characters and readers will surely come to play as the story progresses. This takes the fun of the story and adds a bit of seriousness which truly drives the story.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue is an excellent match for the story's lively and entertaining tone. Kyle Starks does a great job of bringing the world of wrestling to life with a cartoonish style that heightens both the fun and the exaggerated atmosphere of the narrative. This playful approach gives the comic extra energy and boosts its quirky appeal.
The designs for the characters stand out by blending elements from well-known pro wrestlers, creating a sense of familiarity for readers. Fans of Pro Wrestling will spot these influences while non wrestling fans will enjoy the fun cartoonish nature of the artwork.
Vlad Popov’s coloring adds even more impact to the visuals. His palette works perfectly with Starks’s art, making each character and background pop. The thoughtful color choices give every scene its own identity, pulling readers further into the comic’s vivid and energetic world.
