WONDER WOMAN #30 (DC COMICS)
No good deed ever goes unpunished in some fashion.
Diana of Themyscira needed a moment to reset after recent events. Nubia, Cassie Sandsmark, Yara Flor & Donna Troy become the babysitters of baby Elizabeth. This should have been a easy day for all parties involved. No one factored Eris in crashing the party. Her influence causes major rifts between the responsible parties.
The goddess of discord has only just begun her dirty work.
WONDER WOMAN #30 by Stephanie Williams, Jeffrey Spokes, & Clayton Cowles concludes its two-part story with a strong chapter.
Let’s take a closer look at what transpires now.
WONDER WOMAN #30 by Stephanie Williams, Jeffrey Spokes, & Clayton Cowles (DC Comics)
*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Williams wastes no time bringing Eris out from the shadows. The debut teases the chaos she wants to unleash. Seeing the effects of her influence take hold pushes the heroes into a tough situation. Their inner dialogue unlocks a few close secrets. It creases a very uneasy point of confrontation. This builds in Eris revealing herself to the group. Relishing in her schemes, the evil goddess slowly tears apart all confidence in the area. Readers watch as her evil ways are only starting from here.
Crafting the evil versions of each character leads into some solid action. The mood never escapes the points of doubt on display. Even with some assistance, Eris shows no sign of backing down. The writing refuels on the debate of doubt to counter the attack. It is a very strong point, bringing out a heroic element into the conflict. Having doubts isn’t weakness. It makes one more stronger conquering it. This factor leads to a defiant finish to the battle at hand. Its’ epilogue nails the landing to close this fantastic story out with as “The Wonder War” is now on the horizon. Can’t sing enough praises about the writing.

Wonder Woman’s full page entrance becomes a game changer. This steps aside to allow Diana and Nubia an incredible two page spread to begin their face-off with Eris. Readers watch as the counter attack leads into a new sense of hope. This is capped off with a few panels and page of the group finally unifying their issues into a healthy resolution. The images drive home the movement heading into the final moments with Eris. In its’ aftermath, the art team reinforces the message sent during the conflict. This leads into a fun group image celebrating the big victory. The epilogue is brief but sets an uneasy path to the next major WW event.
FINAL GRADE: 9.4
Eris’ intentions of chaos are met head-on by the Amazons in an epic story finale. Williams absolutely crushes this issue with superb writing. Spokes’ art balances out the doubt with bright glimpses of hope. The only complaint is the creative team isn’t back next month. Absolutely wouldn’t mind seeing them make an extended run in the DCU. Don’t miss this issue!
