The Story

Casey Gilly continues the strong start of the series in this issue with equal part heartfelt moments, with some tense action that all culminates in a thrilling conclusion that will leave fans eager for the next issue.

I really like how the issue started off in a way that’s so unlike Lara and goes against the general expectations you would have for a Lara Croft story. It also serves as a nice grounding moment for her, and a reminder that there’s more to life than just exploring and tomb raiding.

From there the issue takes off, literally, and turns up the intrigue. She sets off for Paris on a journey to help her friend Carter Bell on a job that’s important to him. The job, and the rest of the issue really give off a real feel of a classic Lara Croft story from the video games. I really enjoyed the exploration, the mystery and the overall mood of where it was taking place.

The end of the story does ramp up the intrigue and reiterates to Lara just how important the overall story is. She can put it off and try to kick the can down the road, and that the enemy is willing to do whatever it takes to see their goals met.

The Artwork

Antonio Di Caprio & Eren Angiolini both did another stellar job with the art in the issue and continued to help give it a look and feel long time fans are familiar with. The artwork really excelled when it came to the exploration underneath the city and really helped set the mood and tone of the series to one that is sure to please longtime fans.

FINAL POINT: Casey Gilly continues the roaring start of the series with a stellar story. It’s a gripping tale that is full of heart, and excitement that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Together with fantastic artwork from Antonio & Eren, this is a series that continues to impress with how awesome it is!

Overall Grade: 8/10
