The Witcher: Blood Stone #4 (Dark Horse Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 4th issue of The Witcher: Blood Stone from Dark Horse Comics!
Geralts journeys have lead him to some interesting places, but perhaps none as mysterious as the town of Plinth. Mysterious attacks, and a mystery that cannot be explained. Will Geralt be able to save the town? Or is it already too late? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Daniel Freedman’s incredible story telling continues, and if you’re a fan of The Witcher you’re going to love this series! It’s an action packed issue that resolves in a way that should feel familiar to fans of The Witcher series. You can tell the love and care that went into writing the series because it feels like a natural entry into the universe. The story has such a flow to it that feels like an entry into any one of the various iterations you might be familiar with. I also really like how despite Geralt being an incredibly accomplished Witcher in his own right.
I love how everything came to a head in the final issue of this series and I loved the way it resolved. It has all the action you would expect, and the ending is one that isn’t entirely happy. After all, that is The Witcher at it’s core. Sure, the job might be done but the cost might’ve been too high and Geralt might not be happy about it.
Overall, if you’re a fan of The Witcher than this is going to be a story you’re going to enjoy. Freedman does such a great job capturing the tone and feeling of the franchise that works in so many ways.
The Artwork
Pius Bak & Roman Titov artwork works so incredibly well with the series that it feels almost like classic Witcher artwork. The art style is so unique and different from other comic series you might read, and that helps with the series stand out from others on the shelves. There’s a grittiness and roughness to the world, but that’s exactly what The Witcher is. It’s gritty, it’s messy and it isn’t pretty. That said, it is some of the best artwork you’ll see this week.
Overall Grade: 9/10
This series has been such a ton of fun to read that every Witcher fan should read it. A story that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, together with spectacular artwork to match make this a series that you absolutely cannot miss!
