STORY OVERVIEW:

As the members of the family crawl out of the crashed bus, they realize they are at the Trinity Test Site and it’s still active. However, nuclear fallout and bomb tests are the least of their worries as Raina has caught up with them. Randall tries to find a way for his family to escape, as Richie tries to create something to help. But it is Rae who tugs on her Aunt Raina’s heartstrings and almost convinces her to stop. But that feeling doesn’t last long and the chase is back on. Realizing that they are cornered, Randall makes the ultimate decision to let his sister take him in. But the ramifications of that decision no one is ready for.

WRITING:

This issue delivers a fun and heartfelt adventure, drawing readers in with moments that resonate emotionally while also building tension and concern for the Rocketfeller family as the story reaches its climax. Peter J. Tomasi and Francis Manapul expertly guide the narrative, transforming what begins as an energetic chase into a work marked by drama and gravity.

The playful and adventurous tone that defines much of the issue gradually gives way to a more serious atmosphere, setting the stage for lasting consequences that will influence the series going forward. The final act is especially gripping, keeping readers on edge, and the closing page delivers a dramatic punch that is both surprising and memorable.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue is fantastic and captures the essence of the story perfectly. Francis Manapul brings the world to life and really brings the reader into the chase and life of the family. The art also really brings out the drama the family goes through, and all of the emotions they are feeling. Rob Leigh’s color choices extenuate the art and really draws the readers’ eyes to every panel. As good as the story is, the art is just as good if not better.
