STORY OVERVIEW:
The Hulk sends visions to every mutant revealing that he thinks mutants should be members of his army of monsters. Of course, the X-Men are not buying what he’s selling, or are they? The Hulk pays them a visit in Merle and makes them an offer in person. He delivers this offer with an ultimatum which carries a big or else. That’s when the X-Men discover one of their own has left to seemingly join up as one of Hulk’s Horsemen. Meanwhile, the Avengers and company are still trying to figure out how to stop him, when they get a huge addition to their team.
WRITING:
This issue is more of a psychological one and it definitely advances the story while revealing some more of the Hulk’s motivations. Philip Kennedy Johnson brings in the X-Men and wisely sets them apart from other hero teams as they do have a bit in common with Hulk. The fact that humans look at them as monsters only makes it reasonable that they would be a possible ally for Hulk and his army of monsters. The fact that they don’t flat out reject him makes for a cool will they, won’t they to play out, building a sense of anticipation. Johnson really steps up the psychological drama well setting the table for a big finish of this arc over the next few issues.
ARTWORK:
The artwork is inventive and atmospheric, vividly bringing the setting to life. Fantasy details and horror imagery give the Hulk a distinct visual world, while the landscapes enhance the strong character designs. The contrast of dark and vibrant colors heightens the impact, and the dramatic scenes make the story feel like a vivid nightmare.

Final Thoughts:
The Infernal Hulk #7 brings another element and angle to this story, which in turn brings even more intrigue. The Hulk searching out allies and the pitch to said allies not only makes sense but is also plausible if the trigger is pulled makes this that much more impactful. As we near the endgame of this arc, the anticipation is really building making this series move up on my list of must-reads. This is a series that has really built up and become an undeniable force on the shelves.
