The Story
George Mann continues to do a fantastic job with the story in this series. It feels like such a classic Star Wars story but set in a time period that still feels slightly different to your typical Star Wars story most fans would expect.
The issue hits the ground running and doesn’t stop until the very end of the issue. If you’re a fan of The High Republic era of storytelling you’re going to love this issue. It continues some of the great themes fans of that era should be used to, and it all just feels so familiar to long time readers. Even if you’re not well versed in The High Republic era, it still makes for some great reading and it really feels like one of the older Star Wars comics that are so much fun to read.
I really enjoyed the way the story in this issue built up as it progressed as it really had me on my toes with each page. George Mann’s storytelling really excels in this series as he so effortlessly keeps up the tension while keeping the reader guessing with each passing page. It all leads to a very interesting ending of the issue that is sure to leave readers guessing what happens next in issue 4.
The Artwork
Caio Filipe, Michael Atiyeh are in charge of the artwork for this issue and do an absolutely phenomenal job with it. Long time readers of The High Republic Adventures will continue to feel very familiar with the look and feel of the issue. The art in this issue is just spectacular and some of the most beautiful work I have seen in a while. I really loved that the art was able to breathe and be expressive when there isn’t so much action going on. You really get to see Caio & Michael at their absolute best and it’s spectacular to look at.
Overall Grade: 8/10
George Mann & the entire creative team continue the tremendous story with another masterpiece of an issue. The story is one that any Star Wars fan can jump into and read, no matter how big a fan you are.
