*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Prince throws many different looks at readers with this latest chapter. The opening page with Rama Kushna’s guide gives some insight into what Deadman is perusing. It is filled with great details to serve as a narration to Brand’s trek to Gotham. Plastic Man also gets his own spotlight page here with his unique perspective of events. The dialogue carries some humor with it as it treks into the heart of the matter.
Once arriving in Gotham, readers watch as the vastly different relationship between Batman and Deadman comes to light. The creative delivery shows off the over-paranoia of the Dark Knight to much delight. This moves events right along to a trip to Blackgate prison. Deadman’s pursuits sees his quirky ways of interrogation lead into a wild scenario. Readers watch as the bond between Dear Knight and Soul Savior is a rare sight. The dialogue shows something in Batman’s tone rarely seen: trust. This leads into a steady conclusion of the conflict before the last page resets everything. It leaves events with a disturbing lead-in for what is on the horizon. Solid work.

Morazzo & O'Halloran begin with a creative set-up for recapping events. The style of pages reads like a tutorial for both Rama and Plastic Man. It’s a very stylish presentation setting these pages apart from the rest. Once in gear, the art locks in on Brand’s confident journey to Gotham. The mannerisms while inside Batman’s mind prove entertaining as Brand maneuvers through defenses. Readers will enjoy the trippy scenario before pivoting into a more grounded state.
The Blackgate interrogation comes across as a standard conversation. Even in his new form Brand never shakes his well-known persona. It doesn’t take long for events to turn south. An excellent full page image shows a notable Batman rogue crashing the party. This in turn brings Bats to the conflict at hand via half panel. One notable aspect of how Batman is illustrated here is he carries a smile for most panels. It is a weird sight in comparison to how most see him in other books. This leads to a definitive finish to the fight while establishing the next round. A full circle moment occurs to close the show with readers clamoring for more.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
Boston Brand’s search for answers leads him into a wild visit to Gotham City with much wonder behind it. Prince doesn’t stray too far away from the routine formula for this endeavor. Morazzo & O'Halloran switch up some presentations with sensational art. A widening mystery with many miles left to go.
