STORY OVERVIEW:

After the grisly way Cami killed herself, Freja who witnessed the suicide is rightfully distraught. The worst part is she is now seeing things that may not be there. But there is no time to cope with the death as the girls need to head to London to continue Fashion Month. The whole way there the girls kept questioning what happened to Cami. After touching down in London Ivy finds out that there may be worse things then a killer curse, and that’s dealing with pervy fashion photographers. But it isn’t long until Freja finds out exactly what happened to Cami.

WRITING:

This issue further unravels what is going on in this nightmarish story. Hannah Rose May layers this story with a lot of different threats and messages. Of course, the curse that we are familiar with is front and center, but you could argue it’s not the most scary or powerful thing in this world. May shows the shady world of modeling in the early 2000’s. The creepy agents, the drug and alcohol abuse, and worst of all the sexual predators that hide in plain sight. When the killer curse is not the evilest thing in a story, you know you’ve found the right story. May proves yet again why she is one of the best horror writers in the genre today.

ARTWORK:

The art featured in this issue truly elevates the story, infusing it with vibrancy. Miriana Puglia masterfully captures both the visual style and atmosphere, ensuring every background and character design enhances the setting. The horror moments unfold with chilling intensity and vivid gore. Dearbhla Kelly complements Puglia’s work through her thoughtful color choices, letting each panel stand out and guiding the reader’s attention. This artistic duo embodies the energy of the narrative and encapsulates the franchise’s spirit beautifully.

Final Thoughts:

Smile: For the Camera #2 builds off of the first issue well adding some more sub plots and disturbing behaviors in this world. This issue proves that this series will be taking bigger swings and not just sticking to the source material and I for one find this refreshing. This is a book and series for any fan of the genre and should be on the top of your list to grab at the shop this week and add to your Pull List!

FINAL GRADE: 9.1/10
