Simone puts Jessica into the uncomfortable waters early in this issue. The interaction with young “Al Simmons” teases the awkwardness of the truth. The mood shifts to a more easier tone as Jessica calms the young boy’s fears. It is a stark contrast from the cult’s broodish ways. The writing shows the viciousness they are willing to go to get the boy back. This spills over to Jessica’s escape. What should be a simple rest stop turns into anything but.
Readers watch as the angelic side of business rears its’ ugly head. This leads to fast action. Jessica is buying into more of the belief this is really Al Simmons. Her determination moves into extreme levels. It leans into Jessica’s strengths. The fight comes to an explosive finish. How Jessica handles the aftermath is very telling. The closing eludes to more mystery as information comes to light. It brings back a whole slew of memories that make matters more complicated. This leaves readers in a sound area as this tale sinks further into Jessica’s psyche with many questions to follow.

Guara and Nugent open wit a more calm look at Jessica trying to calm the upset child. It connects with the audience as she tries sorting through matters. This leads into two full pages that couldn’t be more different. The first is Jessica and young Al driving away. The latter is a striking image of where their lives stand in the present. It provides a great pivot point for the “angelic” enemies to step into frame.
Their reaction to Jessica’s interference leads to a violent outburst. Panels show the bloody response to failure. It spins into a full page image of the Terror Angels poised to attack. It launches into a chaotic scene where Jessica is tested. Pacing speeds up to deliver on huge action. Nugent’s coloring steals the pages as the contrasting figures duke it out. Jessica’s response to the angels never waivers. Her expressions show the grit she is known for. This brings forth a huge conclusion to the fight. Once in clear space, the tone swings back to the calmer talk between the escapees. It ushers in a strong flashback to how Jessica first started this journey. An excellent full image shows her attacker in striking view. It helps to move the sotry to the finish line with more emotions than expected.
FINAL GRADE: 8.7
The heat is on as Jessica and her companion try to outrun an angelic cult in an explosive chapter. Simone builds up Jessica’s chase with an excellent script! Guara and Nugent never hesitate on bringing the action to thrilling heights. Get ready for a devilish good story!
