*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Higgins and Clark begin with a guilty recap of Marshall’s failure last issue. The writing locks in on his self loathing. It allows his new “partners” to interject themselves with an opposite view. In all the Massive-verse, nobody challenges Marshall Ward quite like Shift. Their banter is priceless from panel to panel.

It leads all parties into searching for a hidden lab. Readers watch as the odd couple pairing discover more than they bargained for. The writing shows what kind of terrible things have been going on here. It adds to the depths Marlow is willing to go to keep control. What comes off as unexpected is there are some moments of unlikely hope. It’s a fleeting feel as Marshall is scrambling for anything to grasp onto. He will need it if the final page represents what it does.

The art team opens with a blunt look at Marshall’s lament of failure. Even with his panels with Satomi keeps the gloomy sense to his actions. Once Shift makes his way in, the panels flip to a semi-comedic stance. This changes once they arrive at their destination. A strong two page spread welcomes them inside to the unexpected world of Marlow’s plans.

Readers watch as they get creative in sneaking their way into new spots. A strong full page trips out as Shift takes a big gamble. This moves into a disturbing two page spread as more secrets are revealed. The panels carry more gravity to them as Marshall and Shift pry for more information. It leads into a more calm finish. The final page teases a huge event forthcoming. What it will result in is anyone’s guess.

FINAL GRADE: 8.5

Marshall Ward gets an unlikely assist in his fight against The Franklin Group. Higgins and Clark present a lighter script based around heavy secrets via the writing. The art locks in on the various reactions of “friemies” at work. Radiant Black continues to shine with its’ ever-changing storyline.
