Can anything go Jen Walters way?

While watching Sakaar in her cousin’s absence, she’s dealt with wedding, murders and unhealthy alliances. The Thousand Eyes are pulling some strings which is leading to more chaos in the streets. Did we forget about the giant Wildebot roaming the city streets? Yeah…

PLANET SHE-HULK #3 by Stephanie Phillips, Emilio Laiso, Sonia Oback, & Joe Caramagna (MARVEL COMICS) presents Walters with a challenge straight to her heart.

Let’s take a deeper dive into how events shape up now.

PLANET SHE-HULK #3 by Stephanie Phillips, Emilio Laiso, Sonia Oback, & Joe Caramagna (MARVEL COMICS)

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Phillips doesn’t delay in swinging big in the opening pages. The conflict with the Wildebot is frantic and fast-moving. It plays right into the Hulk’s family theme of smash first, ask later. This helps when dealing with the mysterious assailant following her. The fight is brief but teases more to come. It is a very strong opening before the story heads back into its’ power struggles with Korven and Rowan Creed.

Their sub-plot with Quade takes a dark turn. Readers watch as their attack leaves a bloody trail behind it. This eventually comes back to She-Hulk’s path when someone asks for help. The dialogue eases the audience into the final pages. Once here, the struggles between Jen and Korven escalate even further. It comes down to a question of ethics in the authority position in place. As structured as this argument is, the final page throws everything off axis. To say expect fireworks next chapter is an understatement.

Laiso steps in for art duties this chapter. The disruption taking over the streets of Sakaar En Nevo takes center stage to open. Readers can easily see the rage forming as the Thousand Eyes advance further. This leads into a pair of great action pages as Jen deals with the Wildebot. This proves to be the undercard to a more personal main event, Watching the assailant maneuver through strikes leads to an explosive end of the physicality. It doesn’t stop the political moves being done with grave intentions.

Watching Korven and Rowan go back and forth echoes the deceptions both carry. Both have crossed lines in their personal natures. This leads to a violent response on to Quade’s supporters. The full page image shows the violent manner in which Korven deals with his rival. It segways back to Jen as she is approached by Elara. The look of fear never eludes the reader as Elara asks for help. This moves events to close with a wild final page. The full image welcomes a very familiar face as the lines have been drawn for the fate of one player. Solid work this chapter.

FINAL GRADE: 8.8

The quest for power proves personal as She-Hulk struggles to stop the bloodshed. Phillips weaves in the politcal aspects amongst the big action. Laiso and the art team give readers a few stand-out looks leading to the mic drop moment on the final page. This series will have fans saying more than “Hulk Smash” after reading!
