Meanwhile, we find out that Adela isn’t the only one with a secret. As Robert has a huge secret of his own, namely his name is Roberto and how will his Neo-Nazi friends feel if they knew he wasn’t truly one of them. However, at the end of the day none of this will prepare you for the next messed up sacrifice.

WRITING:

This issue continues to keep readers off balance and unsure of what is actually going on. Marguerite Bennett & James Tynion IV are unfolding a crazy and psychological thriller that keep you guessing at every turn. The fact that Fred seems to be the puppet master orchestrating everything out in the open, yet seemingly through Austin makes you think. Bennett & Tynion really mastered messing with your head and making it, so you don’t know what to think. The reveal that Robert is actually a Latino man and joined up with the Neo-Nazi’s because he wanted to belong is a wild reveal as well. As more secrets become revealed, what we thought was going on gets turned on its head. The ending of this issue delivers another messed up cliffhanger making the reader second guess everything all over again.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue is creepy in the best way possible, and it fits the unsettling tone of the story perfectly. Letizia Cadonici brings a trippy, eerie feel to the visuals that really adds to the atmosphere and pulls you deeper into the story. As the group slips further into chaos, the artwork becomes even more psychedelic and disorienting. Cadonici’s work is fantastic, and it is the kind of art that immediately grabs your attention.

And as good as the linework is, Jordie Bellaire’s colors take it to another level. Her color choices fit the mood beautifully, which help guide your eyes through each panel, and make every detail pop. Tom Napolitano’s lettering also does a great job of keeping the story easy to follow as the tone keeps shifting. Altogether, the art team really shines here and sets a high bar for the rest of the series.

Final Thoughts:

Odin #2 continues to unfold this creepy and strange story that keeps going further down the rabbit hole of insanity. The further the story dives and the more that is revealed, the more insane it becomes. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and asking what could possibly happen next to outdo what’s already happened. The artwork has an eerie beauty to it which adds even more to the feel of the story. This series is incredible and should definitely be on the top of everyone’s list when visiting the shop this week. This is my Pick of the Week and one of the best additions to my Pull List this year!

FINAL GRADE: 9.8/10
