Super Zedd has crossed a line. There is no turning back.

The combined effort of the Heroes in a Half Shell and Angel Grove’s finest are failing bad. It will take a miracle to salvage victory from defeats grip.

Luck might be shining on the heroes as help does show up, but is it enough?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #4 by Ryan Parrott, Vincenzo Federici, Raúl Angulo and Ed Dukeshire (BOOM! Studios) delivers its’ pen-ultimate issue!

Let’s take a closer look at how this all shapes up.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

WRITING:

Parrott goes big for having Super Zedd taking out his sworn enemies. Splitting the teams into multiple dimensions proves impactful and allows their stories to get ample time to shine. Even with the complex cast, no one feels overlooked. Readers will be happily shocked to see a guest star crash the party. He proves to be a turning point that is sorely needed for the team.

Pacing juggles around the multiple fights but the Leo/Tommy pairing dominates the show. As well as they do, one certain version of the White Ranger will take the spotlight. Readers will have a solid emotional response when said person arrives. Parrott drops in a heartfelt message from a key player until the last page dashes the moment away. It’s a solid lead-in for what will truly be an epic finale.

MORE POWER RANGERS!

ARTWORK:

Federici & Angulo open with a full shot of Super Zedd fighting off Leo and Tommy. It sets the pace for more wild action unfolding on each page. No matter where you turn, there’s always something going on to be impressed with. However, one moment takes the cake and changes all the momentum in the issue.

A full page image welcomes in the guest star in a thunderous way. The art presents the big action in a high speed manner. Even when the huge White Ranger spot takes place, it doesn’t overwhelm but adds more emotion into the closing pages. Matching the solid writing, the panels display how the teams are trying to grab for anything to cling onto. The art team locks in on the power of the parting speech before the final page hits. A full page image throws down the ending with a huge exclamation point. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess.

Final Thoughts:

Is this really the end of the combined forces of MMPR and TMNT? Parrott’s writing masterfully weaves emotional highs with tremendous lows with the huge cast. Federici & Angulo bring the action with every page. Heading into the close, everyone better buckle in for a sure-fire memorable finish.

FINAL GRADE: 8.6
