MARC SPECTOR: MOON KNIGHT #9 (MARVEL COMICS)
The Mansion Ravenous has made Marc Spector do some deplorable things.
With the Midnight Mission trapped inside its’ walls, Spector crossed a line without hesitation. He reunited the Midnight Sons only to use them as bait.
Now inside the devilish structure, Spector has found a way to get everyone home safely. The only downside is survival is far from guaranteed.
MARC SPECTOR: MOON KNIGHT #9 by Jed MacKay, Dev Pramanik, Rachelle Rosenberg, & Cory Petit (MARVEL COMICS) concludes its’ Midnight Suns reunion.
Let’s take a deeper dive into the latest.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
MacKay leaves no doubt the levels Spector will go for victory. Leading the Midnight Militia into battle, the writing shows Spector’s rage while the others try gelling as a team. This spills into Spector finding the (literal) heart of the matter. The conversation goes very south fast as Spector isn’t here for small talk. His actions reflect going for the finish and be damned if you’re in the way. This gets amplified by an unlikely ally in this round.
Seeing Fairchild jump in to help speaks volumes of the scenario. It’s unabashed chaos as they go for the same goal. Readers watch as their actions start having huge ramifications. It eludes to more friction as the House attempts to win. The conflict wraps with a thunderous act moving events and survivors into a more dramatic spot. Once here, the sins of Spector’s past come to haunt him. The writing shows the dysfunction amongst the group while Spector atones for his actions. This leads into curious final pages where Spector now plans for a future uncertain while an old friend has plans all their own.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW HERE!
Pramanik & Rosenberg deserve way more accolades for the work they do with this series. It becomes more difficult each review to find new ways to praise the work. Just look at the opening full page as prime example. The bold full strike sets the tone while other small panels follow suit with the large cast involved. Spector’s rage never escapes for long as he continues to press forward. This leads to a unique meeting via full page. However, it’s what comes next that is show stopping.
A mind-blowing full page shows panels shattering as Spector is screaming his anger out. This moves to an impressive half panel of help before another full page with red panels pops off the issue. This visual ride continues until a daring full page ends the Mansions’ pull. It leads to a safe landing spot before the emotions run over. Daredevil’s response to Spector is brutal with Petit’s lettering guiding the way. This moves events to smaller panels and a closing image showing Spector in a new light. The epilogue pages carry a disturbing red coloring as the main character is primed for the mayhem coming soon. Another Steller visual ride.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
The Midnight Militia takes one last swing as time is running out for a save. MacKay crafts a non stop thriller in these pages. Pramanik & Rosenberg deliver on an intense and incredible art presentation. An instant classic for Khonshu’s favorite avatar!
