When Moon Knight returned from being kidnapped, he discovered a true horror.
The Midnight Mission was presumed dead after confronting the Mansion Ravenous. Using Ginnarr, a living sword to fight the beast, Marc Spector walked into a trap.
He barely escaped alive but his loved ones are still inside. This requires a call to action he never wanted to make:

MacKay drives home the difficult point of reuniting the supernatural squad. Spector’s conversation with Clea shows the hesitation in making said move. Knowing how combustible the last meeting was, Spector knows this is a gamble. Losing his loved ones forces his hand with many varying results. Readers watch as the recruitment path isn’t exactly paved with gold.
The talk with Robbie Reyes conveys the frustration of the Ghost Rider. The dialogue is sharp but makes a common connection. In almost a sense of humor, Blade’s interaction proves to be more simplistic in nature. Readers know the long time fighters have a common ground which they can stand on here. Only one hero gives more pushback than expected. Knowing who this is, it isn’t a super shocking moment. The writing stages their conflictions equally until one finally topples the other. It leads to a moment fans will be amped up to witness. For as much talking that went down here, it never felt forced or overused. Great set-up issue.

Pramanik & Rosenberg brought out the best of the tense talks for this issue. While very little action, the art keyed in on Spector’s struggles on possibly losing loved ones. The Clea conversation carried a sense of uneasiness. It helps make the other talks more serous with the stakes involved. The rear view panel shot of Spector walking to the car is an excellent choice.
This gets equally matched by a full shot of Blade doing what he does best. As they escape their situation, the skyscraper view raises up the meeting from just a quick chat. The other member gives more emotion as he fights off the offer. The coloring provides a great friction between them as they discuss plans. Watching said hero become shocked at Spector’s true plea for help is a subtle image but hits the point. A magnificent full page shot wraps up events for the long road ahead. While very little action in comparison to previous issues, the art team delivers another great experience.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
The resurrection of the Midnight Sons begins with a very direct path. MacKay’s writing does a great build into the overall outcome. Pramanik & Rosenberg deliver on amazing images showcasing the selling points of the mission. Brace for what’s coming cause there will be some hell to pay!
