JUSTICE LEAGUE: KNIGHT VISION SPECIAL #1 (DC COMICS)
Giving the Villains of the DCU amnesty might have caused more problems than even prep time could have seen.
What should have been a time of prosperity has been a huge ego clash with the Dark Knight and Lex Luthor leading the way. Another problem has been looming around this partnership. There is a growing void of rogues since most are taking the Justice League’s initiative has moved forward.
One sees the opening and attempts to take it for himself. He is a villain Batman knows all too well. His name is Prometheus!
JUSTICE LEAGUE: KNIGHT VISION SPECIAL #1 by Mark Waid, Joshua Williamson, Miguel Mendonça ,Romulo Fajardo Jr. & Steve Wands (DC COMICS) sees an uncomfortable team-up take place with greater ramifications than anyone knows.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
While busting up a simple gun trafficking deal, Batman and Luthor get caught up into more than they bargained for. Waid and Williamson bring out the combustible personalities as they are forced to work together to stop what Prometheus has cooking up. Their banter is spot on as both’s giant egos cause fun clashes on what directions to go. Luthor’s constant prodding of Batman in comparing him to the villain is priceless.
This leads into an ultimate confrontation. If readers aren’t familiar with how dangerous Prometheus, the recap page gives a small glimpse of his motivations. It is highly recommended to check out Grant Morrision’s JLA run for an even greater example. The conversation becomes more haunting as the true plan is laid out. Readers can easily sense the flaws in the amnesty program with what transpires. This leads into more ego clashes as the dialogue gets sharper between both members. As the final stages commence, the writing throws some great twists in play to move events to the close. A piece of information is left in the fallout that spells more trouble on the horizon. Great read.

Mendonça & Fajardo Jr. open with a full page shot of Batman and Luthor descending on some thugs. The full page flashback to K.O. is a nice touch before the business commences. Their handling of the crooks is textbook in delivery. It gets upended as a mysterious house pops into view via full page. The investigation leans into the mistrust between Bats and Luthor. Readers watch as the paranoia raises to new heights. This keeps escalating until a gruesome discovery unfolds.
Seeing the thugs augmented with weapons creates an uneasy place for the story. Readers watch as the frantic attempt to escape sees a great full page image heading into a void. This transitions quickly into a strong two page vision Prometheus sitting on top of his broken throne. His maniacal smile sets the pace as the trap closes in on the League members. It compliments the full page origin recap. It results in some quick thinking to close out the confrontation. Panels slow the pace down to soak in the aftermath of what just unfolded. The final panel leaves a chilling reminder that evil is still looming in the air. A great spot to depart into the next challenge for the JLU to face head on.
FINAL GRADE: 9
A simple attempt to take out some thugs spirals out of control when a dangerous rogue re-appears. Waid and Williamson play off the egotistical natures of the leads with huge payoffs. Mendonça & Fajardo Jr. keep a tense aura around each panel to deliver on an incredible confrontation. How long the united front of Bats and Luthor can remain is anyone’s guess.
