Star Wars: Jedi Knights #10 (Marvel Comics)

Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 10th & FINAL issue of Star Wars: Jedi Knights from Marvel Comics!

This series has been set before the events of The Phantom Menace and has seen Qui-Gon Jinn journey into his past, all the while he’s been surviving an assassination attempt! So just what happens when Qui-Gon finally confronts one of the biggest regrets of his life? Let’s jump into it!

Credit: Marvel Comics // Star Wars: Jedi Knights #10 by Marc Guggenheim (Writer), Madibek Musabekov (Artist & Cover), Luis Guerrero (Color Artist), VC’s Clayton Cowles (Letterer), Jesus Aburtov (Cover) is a very fitting end to the series that illustrates how great Qui-Gonn is.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

The Story

Marc Guggenheim pens a fantastic story for the finale of the series, and gives us a tale I’d love to see adapted into either an animated mini-series.

We see Qui-Gon Jinn finally go face to face with Corlis Rath in the most Jedi way ever. I won’t spoil it, but it’s just a perfect way to have it play out. It show so much of why the Jedi end up failing in the future, and why things play out the way they do. Perhaps if they’d followed Qui-Gon’s example they might’ve had a different outcome in the Clone Wars.

It’s so interesting to see how Qui-Gon has learned from his past with how it ends up playing here. He has a complicated past to say the least. His master was Count Dooku, and we know how his story plays out. Marc does a fantastic job showing how great Qui-Gon really was, and he really was one of the best Jedi of the prequel era.

The Artwork

Madibek Musabekov & Luis Guerrero really did a fantastic job with the artwork from start to finish. They were able to bring a level of depth & likeness to the 2D format and help make those connections to characters we know and love in a 3D format. If you’re a fan of the prequels, you’ll really love the artwork of this whole series,.

FINAL POINT: If you’re a fan of the prequels, or are curious about what the Jedi were like before the films than this is the series for you. Marc Guggenheim delivers the preeminent Star Wars prequel story in recent history. Together with some of the best artwork you will see on the comic stands from any company, this is one you don’t want to miss!

Overall Grade: 10/10
