STORY OVERVIEW:

Daredevil returns home to recharge after a hard fight with the Punisher. After sleeping for the longest time, he can remember he gets up to start putting together why Frank Castle is so mad. Along the way Matt Murdoch meets a new lady friend on his walk, showing why he’s a ladies’ man. Later that day, the Punisher, also trying to return home to heal up, gets into an altercation on the subway. As luck would have it Murdoch ends up getting in the same subway car, initially helping the Punisher fight off the thugs. Things turn when Frank wants to execute the one thug, and Daredevil won’t let him.

WRITING:

This issue takes you a bit of a different ride by giving you a day in the life of Matt Murdoch, before ending on the action crescendo. Jimmy Palmiotti does an excellent job of keeping the reader engaged throughout the slower parts of the story, as it builds up to the action. The fact that Palmiotti does a great job building suspense really helps the slow-paced story succeed early on. The dichotomy of the two main characters’ philosophy when it comes to crime fighting is enough of a difference to see why they have a problem, as they are on the same page with most everything else.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this book is absolutely amazing and graphic. The art team really does an amazing job of making the story come to life. The character designs and backgrounds look great. The damage that both Matt and Frank suffered looks realistic and painful. The colors match the mood and tone of the story all the way through.

Final Thoughts:

Daredevil & Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger #2 is a different story than what the reader was probably thinking they were going to get especially after issue one. The slower pace does a great job of building suspense for the inevitable action that does take place. This series with two fan favorite heroes is really heating up and you won’t want to miss what will happen next.

FINAL GRADE: 8.6/10
