STORY OVERVIEW:

We are introduced to Sarah who explains her job for the Ayn-Styne company. She monitors other employees through cameras to make sure they are not harmful to themselves or others. She has three people she is responsible for, but only one of them really intrigues her. Ted is a strange loner who goes out of his way to avoid interacting with people. The only thing he talks to on any given day is a stray cat on his way home. Every morning at 2:30 AM Ted wakes up screaming and then gets in his car and drives to where he can watch planes land. This intrigues and worries Sarah so much she decides she needs to see what he’s experiencing for herself. Unfortunately for her this will set off a series of events that will make her world even more interesting.

WRITING:

This is a fever dream of a story that sucks the reader in while keeping them off balance. Dave Chisholm creates this world where we never truly know what exactly is going on. We have a watcher who we may know what her job is, but we don’t know the real why behind it. Meanwhile, she is watching a very odd and strange individual who the jury is out on what is exactly wrong with him. These pieces of intrigue are enough to keep the reader coming back for more. But then Chisholm leaves us with the most mysterious and crazy cliffhanger of an ending, that makes it a must to find out what happened next issue. The story design is perfect to keep readers on the edge of their seats and coming back for more.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this first issue is chilling and beautiful at the same time. Dave Chisholm captures the essence of the story in the artwork. As crazy and unnerving as the story is, the art matches that energy and builds upon it. The haunting artwork puts you into this strange world and keeps you engaged from page to page. If the story doesn’t make you feel uneasy the art will surely get the job done. Chisholm does a fantastic job with showing the world in a perfect light to really keep the fever dream going.
