ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #17 by Kelly Thompson, Hayden Sherman, Jordie Bellaire, & Becca Carey (DC COMICS)

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Thompson starts events with a direct confrontation with Zatanna. Their dialogue is deceptive as it is cyphering the breakdown. Carey crushes this moment with the reverse lettering. It leads into a fun twist before the action starts. Moves like his slam into Cale harshly. The talk with her team vents her frustration. It serves as a solid lead-in for the fight to commence. Even with Diana’s calm presence, one character leads to settle this with some ruthless aggression.

Giganta proves to be a worthy foe with Diana pulling out a few tricks to try stopping her. The battle with the Squad is moving quickly from page to page. With every counter, Diana pushes herself into some uncharted waters. Readers watch as Diana’s strategies pay off for a few monster moments. The city becomes a squared circle as the blows begin to commence. Thompson keeps throwing more jabs into the mix with new techniques for Wonder Woman. This results in a epic finish of their wild brawl. The post match close leads into more shake-ups for the group of rogues. Readers won’t see one move coming. They also won’t be ready for the closing page. A fun venture into the magical aspect of an Absolute pillar!
