The Story

Michael Moreci does such a great job capturing all of the familiarity fans of The Bad Batch are used to in comic book form, that if Dark Horse wanted to give him a full series run with the title I think it would be a great addition to the Star War storytelling we’re seeing these days.

The story picks up where the previous one left off, with the Bad Batch in pursuit of the scientist they’ve been tracking down. All the meanwhile they’re contending with bounty hunter Aurra Sing and the clone trooper group working with her. You see some of the same beats the series has shown thus far and it works to great effect. The story plays out in a way that feels like it’s straight out of the animated series on Disney+

I really liked the way the story wrapped up and ended up tying into what I’m guessing is right before their first on screen appearance in The Clone Wars television show. The way Moreci is able to wrap up the story in a satisfying way while also tying it almost directly into the The Clone Wars is just a spectacular bit of storytelling and nice bookend to this part of their story.

The Artwork

Reese Hanningan, Elisabetta D’Amico & Michael Atiyeh all did a fantastic job with the art in the series. Their ability at capturing the way the Bad Batch is simply spectacular and helps enhance the readability of the issue. When you’re dealing with characters who’re already established in another format (live or animated) having a similar look that isn’t too jarring is a big help for the story. The action sequences were also so impeccably drawn that it set a high standard for Star Wars comics across the board.

Overall Grade: 8/10

Michael Moreci concludes a fantastic end to a series that is sure to delight Star Wars fans. A fun, familiar feeling story together with artwork that is incredibly impressive make this a series that every fan should have on their shelf!
